Driver Shot & Killed by Trooper on I-275 in Clermont County

A wrong-way driver was shot and killed late Tuesday night on I-275 after a confrontation with Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers.
Authorities responded to reports of a vehicle traveling north on the shoulder of the southbound lanes near Ohio 32 in Clermont County around 11PM. To stop the driver, a trooper intentionally collided his cruiser with the suspect’s Ford Escape.

According to OSHP, the driver displayed a firearm, which lead to the trooper opening fire. Despite first aid efforts at the scene, the driver succumbed to their injuries. Their identity has not yet been released.
A trooper sustained a minor injury unrelated to the shooting. The incident resulted in a highway shutdown for several hours and remains under investigation.
